Roma Gypsy

Roma or Gypsies are en ethnic group in Slovakia and in many parts of eastern Europe, with their own language and lifestyle living in a variety of social situations. While there are also Roma doctors and lawyers largest part of population lives in a vicious circle of stagnant community, poverty, lack of stimuli and low education, dependent on state social system.  See link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roma_in_Slovakia

Our philosophy is not to pass judgment on governments or nations since not one country has yet found and effective way to integrate all Roma populations.  Rather we want to be part of the process that helps to change things for better. Working person to person with young people is a highly rewarding process of change. 

This project focuses on one of  the most desintegrated communities of Roma Gypsy.  The children in Roskovce are well behind in education and some may have  hygiene and behavioural  problems coming from problematic families.  On the other hand the NGO work has made significant progress.  You will soon find that the volunteer work with them is not difficult and that they are very grateful lot.
